In this micro essay i will be analysing the scene when 50 cent (Curtis Jackson) gets shot. I will be analysing the mise-en-scene and the cinematography. Mise-en-scene is everything in the frame and includes props, costumes, locations and the proximity of characters to each other. Mise-en-scene is a very powerful part of film production because when combined with sound and cinematography mise-en-scene can comunicate meaning about people, places and themes. Camera angle movement and position is at the heart of my analysis and i will be looking at how persific shots and how they were edited together create a powerful and memorable film experience for the audience.
At the start of the scene there is a man in a car. He is wearing a balaclaver over his face to hide his identity. the camera then cuts to 50 cent getting something out of the boot of his car in a dark street. the man with the balaclarver gets out and shoots him nine times. Just before he fires the last shot he pulls his balaclaver down to reveal his identity, this is because he thinks the final shot will kill him and his identity is safe. As he goes to fire the last shot 50 cents nan calls out his name, the man looks up and shoots 50 cent through his mouth. As he does this 50 cent starts to have flashbacks. All of he's flashbacks are very important things in he's life or he's heratige. From he's heratige he gets flashbacks of zebras and giraffes running in the wild, this tells you he is originally from Africa. The other flashbacks are all important events that have happened previously in the film. Some of them are him singing a song for he's girlfriend, this is important because thats the first song he ever wrote and sang. The next is he's girlfriend moving away, this is also important because when she leaves he feels like there is something missing from him, until he finds her again later in the film. There are lots of other flashbacks but couple of others are when he first meets the drug dealers he later works for, being in prison and buying a gun, but prehaps the two most important flashbacks are the ones with he's mum and the one with Majestic(the drug king who orders he's killing). As soon as 50 cent gets shot the first thing that happens is a man starts laughing. then you see the mans mouth it is Majestic. there is then a voice over which says 'show no love, love will get you killed'. This is a very important line in the film. It is said three times in the film, the three times it is said are probably the three of the most important times in 50 cents life. The first is when there is a break through with a new drug and that is one of the rules of being in 'a gang'. this new drug gives 50 cent power and importance. The second is the voice over in the flashback and the third is right at the end when 50 cent and Majestic have a fight which later leads to Majestic being killed, the line is also very relevant to the scene aswell because 50 cent 'shows love' to the man shooting him earlier in the film, the man is 50 cent's best friend, who betrays him. The second flashback is with he's mum, when the flashback starts everything slows down and goes to normal speed. He's mum says 'your a poet dont let no one take that away from you'. This is significant because that was one of the last times he see he's mum and also him pursuing he's dream of being a rapper caused him to get shot, and thats the only thing shes ever said to influence him in he's life.

funny games essay
Michael Haneke directed the 1997 austrian horror, Funny games.
In the scene, a woman is getting tortured by two innocent looking boys. they are dressed in all white, which makes them look even more innocent. the directed does a scene where the film goes the way the viewer will want it too. the woman picks up a gun and shoots one of the men. however the other man rewinds the scene and gets to the gun before her. the man is not a "normal killer", he is calm and never shouts. when she goes to grab the gun he says "you shouldnt have done that anne, you have dissapointed me".
